Connect Apple Health and your training plan
Last updated on October 14, 2026
Apple Health collects data. A training plan sets out what you intend to do. LeibFit connects the two: it puts recovery, sleep and strain next to your training and shapes the training day around your recovery. This guide shows how the data gets into the plan and what you need for it.
Start from the data you already have
The basis is what your watch writes to Apple Health overnight: HRV, resting heart rate and sleep. Recovery comes from those. Strain comes from the day's heart-rate data. Which values your wearable actually provides is best checked one by one, as described in Check wearable compatibility. When it starts, LeibFit reads the last 30 days from Health, so existing history counts right away.
Build the plan around your equipment
A plan has to fit what you can actually use. In LeibFit you set up places such as "Home" and "Gym" and give each its own equipment, from dumbbells to machines. Then you choose how the plan comes together:
- Built by the app: LeibFit puts your weekly plan together from your focus, time and equipment. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, an AI model picks the exercises; otherwise fixed rules do.
- Built by you: you put your weekly plan together exercise by exercise.
You can switch between the two at any time. For spontaneous days there is also a free session that copies a unit from your weekly plan for today without changing the plan.
How recovery shapes the plan
When your recovery is low, LeibFit trims the sets of today's session before you start. You see "Dialled back today for recovery" and can bring back the full sets with one tap. For plans the app built, it also manages the weights: it only increases them once you hit your reps, and on weaker days it suggests a little less. More on this in Adjust training when recovery is low.
Add running and cycling
The cardio coach plans running or cycling days. For each day it tells you the duration and heart-rate zone, with a range in beats per minute calculated from your heart-rate reserve. Workouts you record with Apple Watch or another app are read from Apple Health. A matching session ticks off the day and counts towards strain. How strength and cardio work together on the same day is covered in Strength, cardio and recovery in one plan.
What is free and what is Premium
- Free: readiness with recovery, sleep and strain, the journal, data export and sharing, and the cardio coach.
- Premium: creating training plans, by the app or by you, starting workouts on iPhone and Apple Watch, adapting training to your recovery, training history and weekly report, and trends in your values.
LeibFit runs on iPhone with iOS 17.6 or later. The readings come from your wearable; the analysis happens on your iPhone, with no account. Downloading the app does not create any readings by itself.
