Strength, cardio and recovery in one plan
Last updated on October 14, 2026
When you combine strength training and cardio, your week is more than a list of single sessions. A run, heavy sets and your recovery belong in the same overview. In LeibFit, strength training, running and cycling sit together with sleep, recovery and strain in one app, and cardio adapts to your strength days.
Describe different sessions in their own terms
A strength session is described by exercises, sets, reps and weight. A run or ride by duration and heart-rate zone. These details are not interchangeable. A good overview therefore shows each session in its own terms instead of squeezing everything into a single daily number.
The day's strain still needs a common denominator. LeibFit uses time spent in higher heart-rate ranges. Because heart rate underestimates the effort of lifting, every completed set adds credit. How strain lowers readiness is explained in Readiness and training load are different.
One week, two counters
In LeibFit, strength and cardio days sit in the same weekly grid. They are counted separately, for example "Strength 2 of 3 · Cardio 1 of 2". That shows what is done and what is still ahead this week, without one session standing in for the other. Planned is not done: a session in the plan is not yet any load. Runs or rides you record with your watch are taken over from Apple Health and tick off the day.
When gym and cardio fall on the same day
The cardio coach factors the strength day into its recommendation:
- Leg day: strength training is the main effort. Cardio complements it, shorter and easy in zone 2.
- Other gym day: cardio stays deliberately easy and a little shorter.
- Low recovery: a short, very easy session in zone 1.
- Warning sign in your night values or strain already at the top of the day's target: the coach recommends rest.
The coach prefers to put the week's hard session on a day without gym. That keeps a heavy leg workout and intervals out of each other's way.
How recovery steers both sides
The morning's recovery applies to strength and cardio alike. When it is low, LeibFit trims the sets in your training plan and the cardio coach suggests a shorter, easy session. Readiness then shows how much of the day is left, for example before an evening run after a morning strength session.
